How to Use Wax Melts in 5 steps

how to use wax melts

So HOW, exactly, do you make the most out of your wax melts?

See our step-by-step guide below:

Step 1: Choose your wax melt

The first step to choosing your wax melt is deciding what type of fragrance you like. Would you like your house to smell freshly cleaned? If so you will like our clean & fresh scents. Would you like your home to smell of perfume? We have a selection of perfume and aftershave wax melts inspired by famous scents.

Step 2: Start off the melting

Once you have made the important decision of what scent you would like to burn, simply snap one of the Village Wax Melts hearts in half, place half back in the packaging and the other half in your burner. Then, allow the wax to melt by placing a tealight in your tealight burner, or by switching on your electric or plug in wax melter.

Step 3: Enjoy the fragrance

Once the wax melt starts to melt, the fragrance will start to evaporate from the wax melt into the room. It may take up to half an hour for the wax to fully melt and for the fragrance to fully start to diffuse into the room. This is when you sit back, relax and fully appreciate the beautiful scent in your home.

If you love very strong wax melts, some of the best scents to choose include Lime, Basil and Mandarin, Snow Fairies, Blackcurrant and Agarwood, Linen Fresh and Lemon Sherbet.

If you prefer a more subtle fragrance, some of our more delicate fragrances include Wedding Day, Woodsage and Sea Salt, Black Opium and Baccarat Rouge.

Step 4: Changing your scent

Once all the fragrance has evaporated from your wax melt and it is no longer releasing fragrance, it is time to change your scent. The easiest way to do this is to allow the wax to melt to cool to room temperature and solidify in your burner after use.

When you are ready to use your next wax melt scent, simply put a new tealight in your wax burner, or turn on your burner if it is an electric or tealight burner. Wait 1-2 minutes for the wax burner dish to warm slightly.

This will allow the wax to release from the dish, and you will easily be able to slide the wax out in one full piece! If you would rather change your wax melt while it is still melted, simply use some cotton pads, cotton balls or kitchen roll to soak up the melted wax.

Step 5: Use Gel Wax Melts instead of Soy melts

An even easier option is by using our gel wax melts- unlike soy or paraffin wax melts, gel wax melts simply peel straight out of the wax burner when they are at room temperature making them super easy and satisfying to use!

What are wax melts?

Wax melts, also sometimes known as wax tarts, are scented pieces of wax which when placed in a wax warmer or wax burner, release a beautiful strong fragrance into your home.

Wax melts can come in all different scents, shapes and sizes. Village Wax Melts come in a large heart shape which can be snapped down the middle- you only need to use half a heart in your burner to fill your home with a strong and long-lasting fragrance.

How wax melts work?

Wax melts work by releasing the fragrance inside the wax melt into your home when warmed in a wax burner or wax warmer

Wax burners can either be tealight wax warmers, where the tealight heats the wax melt, or they can be electric or plug-in wax warmers, where a bulb inside the warmer heats the wax melt.

Wax melts are considered a popular alternative to candles due to their affordable price, their strong fragrance and as a wick-free and flame-free alternative to candles.

Wax melts come in a variety of scents, such as perfume and aftershave scents, sweet and fruity scents, or scents that smell just like your favourite fabric conditioner!

Wax melts v candles

Here at Village Wax Melts, some of our customers prefer wax melts while some of our customers just think a candle is unbeatable! Neither are wrong, it is simply a matter of personal preference, however there are pros to each candles and wax melts.

Wax melts provide a fun, affordable and unique experience, whilst candles create a relaxing atmosphere in your home. Many of Village Wax Melts customers love the crackling sound of our wood wick candles which sounds like a crackling log fire, particularly in the autumn and winter months.
